The upstream oil and gas conservation and reclamation program supports the return of land used for oil and gas development to a productive state. Alberta requires operators of activities on specified land, including upstream oil and gas sites, must conserve and reclaim their sites to equivalent land capability. This means a reclaimed site will support a range of uses that is similar to what the site could have supported before it was disturbed.
A new Government of Alberta agency dedicated to helping the province save energy to raise awareness among energy consumers of energy use and the associated economic and environmental consequences; promote, design and deliver programs and carry out other activities related to energy efficiency, energy conservation and the development of micro-generation and small scale energy systems in Alberta, and; promote the development of an energy efficiency services industry in Alberta.
