Specific to energy expertise, the University of Alberta is focused on the world’s current and future energy needs. We are generating transformative technologies and processes that will enable responsible development of Alberta’s energy resources and the transition to future low-carbon energy systems. We are home to Canada’s largest energy-related research cluster—a critical mass that makes us the hub of a provincial, national and increasingly international group of companies, government organizations and post-secondary institutions seeking collaborative energy-related solutions. We have more than 800 UAlberta researchers who are engaged in energy-related work, almost all of it aimed at improving processes and reducing environmental impact. Our leadership in energy and environment discovery spans 11 faculties and more than two dozen research centres, which support the inquiry into conventional and unconventional oil and gas, biology and ecology, climate change, water, land-use management and reclamation, mining, and energy-related legal and economic policy. The U of A recently launched the new Future Energy Systems Research Institute, which was created out of a $75-million federal grant to develop clean energy technologies and ways to integrate these new energy sources into our fossil fuel-based energy infrastructure. Please reach out to capacity@ualberta.ca for more information on how capacity can be enhanced in your organization.

Calgary, Alberta - Canada - T2E 7H7
https://www.digitcore.com
We're excited to introduce our two flagship products, DigitCore Software and the DigitCore Library, to geoscientists in Canada, the United States, and internationally. With DigitCore Software, you can: • Log physical cores and digital core images • Quickly correct depths • Pick geological features from core images and record these features onto strip logs • Customize track names • Integrate all drill hole and wellbore data Another key feature of DigitCore Software is that you can overlay lithology, sedimentary structures, rock accessories, and trace fossils on one single track, just as geologists have been doing on paper with pencils for decades. The DigitCore Library is a rapidly expanding database of digital core images of sub-surface cores, as well as outcrops, seamlessly integrated with our DigitCore Software so that you can do your own geological interpretations. All digital core images include core depths instead of just the raw images. They are organized by well, drill hole, or outcrop location. DigitCore Library core images are accessible online 24/7 for downloading, viewing, and interpretation once you have set up an account with us. www.digitcore.com
